Manage a campaign
Pause, resume, unschedule, cancel, or delete a campaign and understand the quota effects.
Open a campaign to control what happens to its remaining recipients. The available actions depend on its current status. Use the report for scheduled or launched campaigns and the wizard for drafts.
Who can do this: the workspace owner or members whose role includes viewing and managing campaigns.
Steps
Open the campaign
Open Campaigns, use the status tabs if needed, and select the campaign.
Choose an action
Use the action for the current status from the table below. Each action opens a confirmation dialog. Read it before confirming.
Confirm or keep the campaign
For Pause, Resume, Unschedule, or Cancel campaign, select the same action in the dialog to confirm. Select Keep campaign to leave it as it is.
For Delete draft, confirm with Delete draft or select Cancel to keep it.
| Action | Available when | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Pause | Sending | Stops new sends. Messages already being submitted finish. |
| Resume | Paused | Continues sending to the remaining eligible recipients. |
| Unschedule | Scheduled | Returns the campaign to Draft, clears its scheduled start and report counts, and lets you edit it again. |
| Cancel campaign | Scheduled, Sending, or Paused | Stops remaining sends and marks remaining pending or deferred recipients as skipped because of cancellation. |
| Delete draft | Draft | Deletes the draft and its imports. You cannot undo it. |
In the cancellation dialog, Keep campaign (1) closes the dialog. Cancel campaign (2) confirms the cancellation.
Quota effects
Cancelling or unscheduling does not refund campaign quota. Sending tests also uses quota. Your monthly allowance depends on your plan.
Pausing and resuming continue the existing launch without charging its eligible audience again. After Unschedule, launching or scheduling the draft again consumes quota for its new eligible audience. Deleting a draft does not reverse quota already used by tests or an earlier launch.
In a draft, Delete draft is below the wizard. Its dialog has Cancel (1) and Delete draft (2).
Good to know
- A daily-limit wait keeps the campaign in Sending. Read the report banner for the reason.
- A campaign can pause automatically because a template or sending number is unavailable, or WhatsApp reports a sending restriction. Resolve the issue before resuming.
- A campaign paused because its message template became unavailable resumes automatically when that template is approved again.
- If a Utility template changes to Marketing, review audience consent before resuming.
- Completed and Cancelled campaigns have no further lifecycle buttons. Delivery and reply updates for messages already sent can still appear.
