Connect your WhatsApp Business app number

Keep using the WhatsApp Business app and bring supported messages, contacts, and shared history into Watification.

Use Connect your WhatsApp Business app number to connect a number you already use in the WhatsApp Business app. This is called coexistence: you keep the app, and your team can use the same number in Watification.

Before you start

Keep the WhatsApp Business app open on your phone. Have access to the Meta business portfolio you will use. Use an up-to-date Business app, open the dashboard over HTTPS, and allow Meta's popup. WhatsApp availability and account capacity depend on your plan.

Who can do this: the workspace owner or members whose role includes viewing and creating channel connections.

Connect the number

Choose the Business app flow

Open Channels and select Connect your WhatsApp Business app number (2).

Confirm the connection in Meta and the app

Choose to connect your existing Business app account and enter its number. Follow the verification instructions shown:

  • Open the message from the official Facebook Business Account in the Business app.
  • Connect to the Business Platform and confirm the connection.
  • Choose whether to share chat history.
  • Enter the verification code as instructed and finish Meta's popup.

Leave the app open for sync

Wait for Watification to finish connecting. Open the number's Overview and check WhatsApp Business app sync (1). Keep the Business app open while contacts and shared history are imported. Chat history shows the import percentage (2).

Use the Business app button for a number you already use in that app.

What appears in Watification

  • Supported messages you send from the app appear in the conversation with Sent from WhatsApp Business app. Watification does not send them again.
  • If you share history, up to 180 days of one-to-one chats can be imported. New conversations created by the import start resolved. Existing conversations keep their status.
  • Imported messages keep their original times. They do not count as unread, trigger new-message notifications, or open the 24-hour reply window. Sending from the Business app also does not open or extend that window for Watification.
  • App contacts can be added to your workspace. An app contact name fills an empty name; it does not replace a name already saved in Watification. Removing a contact in the app does not delete it in Watification.
  • Older or unavailable media can appear as placeholders. Meta supplies history media only for recent messages, within the last 14 days. A placeholder can update if the media arrives later.

Limitations

Group chats are not imported. Message edits and revocations from the app are not reflected in Watification. Connecting can also change app features: disappearing messages, view-once messages, and live location are disabled for one-to-one chats; broadcast lists become read-only. Linked devices are unlinked during onboarding and supported devices must be linked again.

Coexistence numbers have a Meta sending throughput limit of 20 messages per second. Messages sent through Watification follow Meta's pricing and reply-window rules.

In Number settings, app numbers show Also used in the WhatsApp Business app. Registration PIN controls, Two-step verification, the storage-change workflow, and Danger zone deregistration are hidden for these numbers.

Troubleshooting

The sync card can show Waiting to start, Sync requested, Importing history, Import complete, History sharing declined, or Import could not finish.

If you declined history sharing, no shared history is imported. To retry a failed import, disconnect from the Business Platform in the WhatsApp Business app, then use Connect your WhatsApp Business app number again. Meta permits the sync request only once per onboarding and within 24 hours, so there is no retry-import button.

Disconnecting from the Business Platform interrupts your team's use of that number through Watification. Coordinate the reconnection with your team.

See phone numbers and account notices for the connection's status.
