Number settings

Handle phone registration, display names, two-step PINs, official account status, storage, and deregistration.

Open a phone number's Number settings to manage its connection to WhatsApp. Check registration first, then make the change you need. Some actions take the number offline or require its two-step verification PIN.

Before you start

Open Channels, choose the account, select Phone numbers, and open the correct number. Have access to WhatsApp Manager if you need to reset a forgotten PIN.

Who can do this: the workspace owner or members whose role includes viewing and managing channel connections. Members with viewing permission alone have read-only access.

A Business app number shows Also used in the WhatsApp Business app. Registration PIN controls, two-step PIN changes, the storage-change workflow, and deregistration are hidden for these numbers. See Business app numbers.

Check phone registration

Watification normally registers new numbers automatically and creates their two-step verification PIN. The generated PIN is not displayed in the dashboard.

Open manual registration when needed

For Existing PIN required, select Register with existing PIN. If you forgot the PIN, reset it in WhatsApp Manager first. For Registration failed, check the displayed Meta error code and the number in WhatsApp Manager, then select Register number.

Enter and confirm the PIN

In Register number, enter the six-digit PIN in PIN (1) and repeat it in Confirm PIN (2). If two-step verification is already enabled, use that existing PIN. Otherwise, the PIN you enter becomes the number's two-step verification PIN.

Finish registration

Select Register number (3). Both fields must contain the same six digits. If the request fails, the dialog shows an error and keeps your entries so you can correct them.

Do not repeatedly attempt registration. Meta limits registration to 10 requests per number in a rolling 72-hour period. Check the error and WhatsApp Manager before trying again.

Change the display name

Submit the new name

In Display name, check the current verified name and pending name. Enter New display name, up to 100 characters, then select Request name change.

Wait for review

Meta reviews the change. The card shows the pending name and its review status. You can request up to 10 changes per 30 days.

Apply an approved name

For a number outside the Business app, select Re-register with approved name when offered. Enter and confirm the number's two-step PIN, then select Register number. Do this within 14 days of approval, or submit the name again. Re-registering before approval has no effect. Business app numbers do not show this action.

Change two-step verification

Open the PIN dialog

In Two-step verification, select Change PIN.

Save a new PIN

In Change two-step PIN, enter a new six-digit PIN (1) and matching Confirm PIN (2), then select Change PIN (3). Keep the new PIN somewhere secure; you need it to re-register the number.

Enter the new PIN twice before saving it.

There is no option here to disable two-step verification or reveal a saved PIN. If you forget your PIN, reset it in WhatsApp Manager.

Official Business Account

Official Business Account shows the status reported by Meta. Select Request in WhatsApp Manager to open Meta in a new tab and check eligibility or apply there.

Official status adds a blue checkmark. Meta requires business verification, an approved display name, two-step verification, and at least 30 days on the Business Platform. Approval is Meta's decision. If denied, wait 30 days before requesting again. Meta does not grant this status to WhatsApp Business app phone numbers.

Change where messages are stored

This section changes Meta's local storage setting for the number. It does not choose where your workspace stores its Watification data.

Changing storage requires taking the number offline. Customers cannot message the number and Watification cannot send from it until you register it again. Arrange the interruption with your team and have the PIN ready before starting.

Take the number offline

In Change where messages are stored, select Deregister number when offered. Confirm using the procedure below. Wait for Meta's status to show that the number is disconnected.

Save the storage choice

Choose Enable local storage or Disable local storage under Storage mode. When enabled, select Region. Select Save while unregistered. Saving is available only while Meta reports the number as disconnected.

Register again

Select Register again. Enter the six-digit PIN in PIN and Confirm PIN, then select Register number. The storage save does not automatically register the number for you.

The region choices are AU, ID, IN, JP, SG, KR, DE, CH, GB, BR, BH, ZA, AE, and CA. Media uploaded with local storage is accessible only to that number. Cloud API message content may be processed internationally for up to 60 minutes before being retained in the selected region.

Deregister a number

Deregister number takes effect immediately. Customers cannot message the number and Watification cannot send from it until it is registered again. To disconnect an entire account from your workspace, use Disconnect instead.

Open the confirmation

In Danger zone, select Deregister number. This action is offered only when Meta reports the number as connected. It is unavailable for Business app numbers.

Type the displayed number

Check the number in the dialog. In Type phone number to confirm (1), type it exactly as displayed, including its formatting. Select Deregister number (2), or Cancel (3) to leave it online.

Typing the displayed number enables the immediate offline action.

Troubleshooting

If Save while unregistered remains disabled, Meta may not yet report the number as disconnected. Check the displayed status and sync the account. Meta can reject an action even when the dashboard offers it; read the error before retrying.

To restore a deregistered number, use Register again in Change where messages are stored when Meta reports it as disconnected. See phone numbers to check its status afterward.
