QR codes and links

Create a WhatsApp QR code, download it, or build a direct message link for a phone number.

Share a QR code or message link so customers can start a WhatsApp conversation without typing your phone number. Use a managed QR code when you want to change its prefilled message later while keeping the same code and link.

Before you start

Open Channels, choose your WhatsApp account, then select QR codes & links under Get customers. You need an active phone number in the account.

Who can do this: the workspace owner or members whose role includes viewing channel connections. Creating, editing, and deleting QR codes require managing channel connections.

Create and share a QR code

Choose the number and message

Select Create QR code. Choose Phone number (1) and enter Prefilled message (2). The message is required and allows up to 140 characters. Select Create QR code in the dialog to save it.

Open the code's actions menu. Select Copy link, Download SVG, or Download PNG. Use SVG for print materials that need resizing, or PNG for an image file.

Update the message later

From the same menu, select Edit message, change the text, and select Save message. The existing code and link now use that message. The phone number cannot be changed in this dialog.

Choose the destination number and the text customers see in WhatsApp.

Choose the destination number and the text customers see in WhatsApp.

Scroll to explore the screenshot. Use arrow keys when the image is focused.

In Message link builder, choose Phone number. Enter Prefilled message (optional) if you want suggested text, then copy the Message link with Copy link.

This creates a direct link using the number and message in the URL. Changing the builder text creates a different URL; replace any previously shared URL yourself.

Delete QR code stops the managed code and its link immediately, including copies on printed materials. Read the confirmation before deleting. Deletion cannot be undone.

Good to know

Customers see the prefilled text before sending it. Scanning a code or opening a link does not send a customer message automatically. QR scan and link-click analytics are not available here.

If there are no active numbers, use Sync on the account's Overview. The direct link builder also needs the number's display phone number. If downloading fails, try again from the code's menu.

See phone numbers, signup links, and ad welcome messages.
